The two systems were also asked about policies on the roles of key support personnel related to preventive health services. Education ministries and school districts were asked if there were guidelines on the role of guidance counselors in providing information on sexual health issues. Based on these results, it does not appear that the guidance counselor has been directed by policy to play an active role.

Similar questions were asked of the public health system on the role of the public health nurses. Health ministries and public health units were asked if they publish guidelines on the role of the public health nurses in working with schools or youth. Based on these results, it appears that the role of the public health nurse in working with schools is not explicitly outlined in policy.
