Support for Teachers - Youth-led Health Promotion to Prevent HIV

8.2.16 Support for Teachers - Youth-led Health Promotion to Prevent HIV

Education and health respondents were also asked if and how they supported youth-led initiatives to prevent HIV and promote sexual health. Questions were asked about their support for school-based peer helper programs and youth groups in the community. Less than 25% of respondents from all levels in both systems said that they regularly supported these youth activities.

Peer helper programs exist in many schools. Education and public health respondents were asked if they had supported the development of HIV or sexual health materials to be used in such programs. Few respondents from either systems said that they did so.
